BCE Racing Team

The BCE Racing Team is a developmental whitewater slalom racing and training program supported in part by the local racing club, the Bethesda Center for Excellence.  We draw paddlers as young as 12 and as young at heart as 62 from the greater metropolitan Washington D.C. area. Depending on the paddler's skill and experience, training sessions take place on the Feeder Canal in Bethesda, on the Potomac River, and on the whitewater course in Dickerson, MD. Two time Olympic Medalist in whitewater slalom, Dana Chladek, runs the show with occasional guest appearances by National Team and former National Team members, Scott Parsons and Ryan Bahn.

For young junior paddlers, BCE Racing Team provides the means to learn technical river and slalom gate skills and to develop strength and fitness.  The program is designed with long-range goals in mind, to nurture novice competitors through each level of the sport as they realize their potential. When a junior is ready to expand his or her commitment, the team will prepare him/her for Junior Olympic and Junior Trials Competition, and serve as a steppingstone to the NDT (National Development Team).

For adult paddlers, BCE Racing Team provides a means of improving one’s slalom technical proficiency, stroke dexterity, and fitness levels to improve river skills.  Competitive techniques and aerobic conditioning will also be covered as athletes prepare for Feeder Cup and Penn Cup races. The group is supportive, friendly, and works hard for the sheer pleasure of the sport.

For insurance purposes, all paddlers must be members of the Bethesda Center for Excellence in order to participate in our programs. Contact liquidadventures.org to register.
